There are a lot of websites that will have been optimised to be viewed in the latest browser or built using the latest W3C Standards and there are a multitude of aspects to web browsers which could show a web page incorrectly (and in extreme circamstances not at all!). An interesting article by The Web Standards Project outlines why it is best to keep up-to-date with the latest version of your browser.
